Michaelle Tavares is a Teaching Assistant and Key Stage 1 teacher at Aspire International School. Born and raised in South Africa, she first joined AIS in 2021 as a Year 1 Facilitator, an experience that inspired her to deepen her involvement within the school. Michaelle now supports pupils in the classroom, with particular focus on children with additional learning needs.

She is currently studying part-time towards her TQUK Level 2 Diploma in Early Years Practice and is developing her expertise in supporting young children with special educational needs and disabilities. Michaelle is also preparing to begin further training in supporting EAL learners and is actively learning Portuguese and Sign Language. She believes she has found her true vocation in education and feels grateful to be part of the AIS family.

What do you enjoy most about working with younger students?

Answer:

I love seeing their enthusiasm and curiosity every day. Key Stage 1 is such an important time, and it is wonderful to support children as they develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

I work closely with the teacher to ensure every child feels supported and included. Whether helping with reading, guiding small group activities, or offering encouragement, my goal is to help each student feel capable and confident.
