After relocating to the Algarve, following a 15-year stint in the UK, Catarina initially gained qualifications in tourism and beauty therapy before realising that her true calling and main love have always navigated towards children. As a highly motivated individual with a heart full of passion and patience, she has previously worked as a babysitter, au pair, and childminder in private creches and 5-star hotels. Joining AIS a year ago as a teaching assistant has been a rewarding experience; being able to provide tender guidance to her students has been heartwarming and incredibly fulfilling! She is proud to be part of the team in a beautiful home of education!

What do you enjoy most about working with Key Stage 2 students?
Answer:
I love seeing how much students grow in confidence and independence during these years. It is a wonderful stage where their personalities shine, and they begin to take ownership of their learning and achievements.
How do you support students who may need extra encouragement?
Answer:
I take time to understand each student as an individual and provide support in a calm and positive way. Sometimes a little extra guidance, reassurance, or simply listening can make a big difference in helping a child feel capable and confident.
What is most rewarding about your role at AIS?
Answer:
Being part of each student’s journey and seeing their progress, both academically and personally, is incredibly rewarding. It is a privilege to help create a supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to do their best.
