Issma has had a productive legal career, spanning over 20 years, mainly in public service posts such as being a prosecutor in Glasgow and a lawyer within the Government Legal Department in London. Issma is thoroughly enjoying teaching and her change in career. Issma believes that A level Law, which upskills students in matters such as evaluating information and critical thinking, is a highly useful subject for today’s world. Issma is passionate about bringing her practical experience of the subject into the classroom to enhance the learning experience for students and to use this very interesting subject to improve language and writing skills.

What do you enjoy most about teaching A Level Law?
Answer:
I enjoy helping students develop the ability to think critically and see how the law shapes everyday life. Watching them build confidence in analysing complex situations and forming their own reasoned arguments is especially rewarding.
How do you make law engaging and relevant for students?
Answer:
I use real-life cases and current legal issues to show how the law applies beyond the classroom. This helps students understand its importance and encourages them to think about justice, responsibility, and the impact of legal decisions on society.
What skills do students gain from studying A Level Law?
Answer:
Students develop strong analytical thinking, clear communication, and the ability to evaluate evidence. These skills are valuable not only for studying law at university, but also for a wide range of careers and for becoming thoughtful, informed individuals.
