Corinna graduated with a BSc degree in German and French and has over 39 years of experience in teaching both. Corinna returned to Portugal in 2019 after 3 years as Head of Modern Languages at an international school in Vietnam. She taught students from 5 to 18 years old, and her flexibility in teaching all ages and levels has been commended. Corinna is a motivational teacher who feels it is important that students enjoy learning languages, as they are the gateway to understanding and appreciating other cultures. Corinna is genuinely excited about being part of this lovely school where the students are taught in small classes and so can always receive individualised teacher’s attention and encouragement.

What do you enjoy most about teaching languages?
Answer:
I enjoy helping students discover that language is more than just vocabulary, it is a gateway to new cultures, ideas, and ways of thinking. Watching students gain the confidence to communicate in another language is incredibly rewarding.
How do you make learning French and German enjoyable for students?
Answer:
I use games, conversation, music, and real life situations to make lessons engaging and practical. The goal is to help students feel comfortable using the language, not just memorising words.
Why is learning a second language important for young people?
Answer:
Learning another language builds confidence, improves communication skills, and opens doors to future opportunities. It also helps students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
