Chanelle was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of South Africa, specialising in Foundation Phase and Early Childhood Education, and brings over 15 years of teaching experience to the classroom.
She has always been passionate about learning and exploring different teaching approaches, which led her to complete a TEFL qualification and spend the past three years teaching learners online as well.
Chanelle believes every child is unique. She focuses on creating a safe, positive, and nurturing environment where learners feel confident to explore, ask questions, and learn through experience. What do you enjoy most about teaching these subjects?
Answer:
I enjoy helping students understand themselves and the world around them. Through drama and humanities, students explore ideas, perspectives, and emotions, while life skills and mindfulness help them develop confidence, self awareness, and resilience.
How does drama support students beyond the stage?
Answer:
Drama helps students find their voice. It builds confidence, communication skills, and empathy. These are essential life skills that support students not only in school, but in their relationships and future careers.
Why is mindfulness important for young people today?
Answer:
Mindfulness helps students slow down, manage stress, and stay present. It gives them practical tools to handle challenges calmly and thoughtfully, which supports both their wellbeing and their ability to learn effectively.
