Aspire Spring Fair 2026 – Join Us on 24th April

We’re excited to invite our Aspire community, families, and friends to this year’s Spring Fair, taking place on Friday 24th April 2026.

It promises to be a fantastic day filled with food, activities, music, and community spirit, all set in the beautiful surroundings of the school.

📅 Event Details

Date: Friday 24th April 2026
Time: 11:00am – 4:30pm
Location: Aspire International School
Set-up (Stall Holders): From 9:00am

Stalls will be located around the A Block building, along the pathway to B Block, and across the sand pitch area, creating a lively and engaging space for everyone to explore.

Food & International Stalls

We’re delighted to have a variety of international food stalls representing our diverse school community, including:

Sweden
Laos / Sweden
Korea
Germany
Spain
Netherlands
Year 13 Students – Burgers

A perfect opportunity to enjoy flavours from around the world while supporting our students and school initiatives.

🎪 Student & Community Stalls

Secondary students will be running stalls by class, offering games, activities, and items for sale.
Year 11, 12 and 13 students will use their stall profits to support their end of year Prom.
Community stalls are welcome to join for a fee of €50, with all profits retained by the stall holder.
Charity stalls attend free of charge, and we’re pleased to welcome Goldra Dog Sanctuary this year.

How It Works

All purchases on the day will be made using €1 tickets, available to buy at the entrance.

These can be used across all stalls for food, drinks, and activities, making everything simple and easy for everyone attending.

🎶 Entertainment

There will be a student DJ providing music throughout the day, creating a great atmosphere.

We’re also hoping to include a karaoke stall, so get ready to join in and have some fun.

Supporting the School

Funds raised during the event will go towards a school project, currently being decided.

One of the ideas under consideration is a large climbing frame suitable for both primary and secondary students, and we welcome further suggestions from the community.

At Aspire International School, we are proud to be located in the heart of the Algarve’s Golden Triangle, surrounded by some of the most beautiful and exclusive communities in Europe. A Visionary Beginning

Vale do Lobo’s story began with André Jordan and later Sander van Gelder, whose bold vision helped bring luxury tourism to the Algarve almost 60 years ago. Their ambition set in motion a project that would change the region forever.

Growth Through the Decades

1970s: The first homes and a world-class golf course were built, marking Vale do Lobo as a destination for leisure and lifestyle.
1980s–1990s: Expansion brought more residences, restaurants, shops, tennis, and international recognition.

Going Dutch: Language & Culture Come to AIS

Do you want your child to stay connected to the Dutch language and culture? Then NTC education (Dutch Language and Culture Education) from the Windroos is exactly what you are looking for!

NTC education has been specially developed for children of Dutch or Flemish descent who live abroad. It helps them to maintain and strengthen their language skills – an indispensable basis for communication with family, cultural identity and a possible return to the Netherlands or Flanders.

As parents, you are consciously choosing multilingualism, identity development and educational opportunities for your child(ren).

Wat biedt de Windroos?

Lezen, schrijven, spreken en luisteren in het Nederlands
Kennismaking met Nederlandse geschiedenis, feestdagen en literatuur
de lessen zijn aangepast op verschillende niveaus
Een sociaal netwerk van andere Nederlandstalige kinderen

Voorbereiding op een examen, zodat je kunt studeren in Nederland of Vlaanderen

Time & Place

The lessons take place in a classroom outside regular school hours (on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, depending on the group composition, from 3:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.).

De lessen worden gegeven door gemotiveerde en gediplomeerde docenten. In de groep zijn er verschillende niveaus, daarom wordt er een beroep gedaan om elkaar te helpen en samen te werken en van elkaar te leren. Daarnaast kunnen ze lekker Nederlands praten tijdens de les en ervaren ze hun cultuur. Ze voelen zich weer even ‘thuis’.

Hybride en online behoort eventueel ook tot de mogelijkheden (in onderling overleg).

A Wonderful Community Day at Aspire: The Two Rachaels Family Market

Sunday, 15 June – Aspire International School, Almancil

Aspire International School proudly opened its doors to host a heartwarming and lively community event this weekend – The Two Rachaels Preloved Family Market – and what a success it was!

From the moment the gates opened at 11am, the campus buzzed with excitement and laughter. Families from across the Algarve gathered to enjoy a day filled with music, movement, and meaningful connections.

Highlights from the Day:

Live performances by local artist Evan Morgan brought a relaxed, feel-good vibe to the grounds, with sets at 11:30 and 12:30.

A Family Yoga session led by Sónia Da Cunha Castro of Yoga Kids Algarve offered a moment of peace, mindfulness, and bonding.

‍

The crowd joined in an energetic mini workout circuit by Coach Chris Fielding of Fielding Fitness, proving that fitness can be fun for all ages.

‍

Over 30 stalls featuring second-hand treasures, handmade crafts, sustainable brands, and local businesses gave attendees a chance to shop responsibly and support the community.

‍

A book swap, donation station, and a variety of food and drink options added to the friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

We are incredibly grateful to The.Two.Rachaels for organizing this special event and to all the stallholders, volunteers, and visitors who helped make it such a memorable experience. Your participation helps foster the values we hold dear at Aspire: sustainability, wellness, community, and joy.

What is World Children’s Day?

World Children’s Day, celebrated annually on June 1st in Portugal and many other countries, is a time to honour children’s rights, celebrate their potential, and promote global awareness of their wellbeing.

While the United Nations officially marks Universal Children’s Day on November 20th, many countries — including Portugal — dedicate June 1st as a public celebration of children through fun events, learning activities, and community participation.

Aspire Students Join Forces for Coastal Clean-Up in Vale do Lobo

On Tuesday, 20th May, 136 Aspire International School students rolled up their sleeves and joined a large-scale beach clean-up at Vale do Lobo organised by Infralobo, an initiative that brought together more than 350 people in celebration of the European Maritime Day and Loulé’s Environment Week.

Organised by Infralobo and Vale do Lobo Resort, the clean-up covered both Garrão Poente and Garrão Nascente beaches. In just a few hours, over 260 kilos of waste were removed from the coastline — a powerful example of environmental action driven by community collaboration.

Aspire was proud to be a key participant in this event, with students ranging from Preschool to Secondary, supported by a dedicated team of teachers and staff. Our youngest learners worked side by side with older pupils, fostering not only environmental awareness but also an inspiring spirit of teamwork and citizenship.

Aspire Beach Clean-Up: Learning Through Action

📅 20 May 2025 | 🕘 09:00 – 12:30 | 📍 Vale do Lobo

At Aspire International School, we believe real-world learning builds real-world impact. That’s why we’re thrilled to take part in the Spring Beach Clean-Up 2025, organised by Infralobo E.M. with the support of Loulé City Council.

On 20 May, over 130 students and 19 staff from Preschool through to Secondary will head to Garrão Poente and Garrão Nascente Beaches for a morning of meaningful environmental action — and we’re inviting parents to join us!

Why We’re Taking Part

This initiative gives our students the chance to:

Actively contribute to protecting our local environment
Learn the value of teamwork and active citizenship
Put classroom learning into practice in the real world

From ages 3 to 13, every Aspire learner will be suited up in school PE shirts, guided by trained staff, and equipped with:

Eco-cleaning kits (gloves, bags, hats)
Water, snacks, and fresh fruit

Transport & Schedule

Transport is generously provided by Loulé City Council. We’ll depart from school at 08:45 and return around 12:45. Students will be supervised at all times, with extra care provided for our youngest learners.

This isn’t just a field trip — it’s an experience that builds awareness, empathy, and community spirit. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our beaches and our children’s futures.

Aspire International School was filled with colour, music, and excitement this past weekend as we celebrated Carnaval both at school and in the lively streets of Quarteira! 🇵🇹✨

🎭 A Day of Fun and Learning at School

On Friday, our primary students embraced the spirit of Carnaval in a fun-filled, educational celebration. Year 6 Learners Visit ASCA: A Morning of Joy and Connection

Our Year 6 learners had the privilege of visiting the Associação Social Cultural de Almancil (ASCA), where they spent a heartwarming morning connecting with the elderly residents. It was an experience filled with learning, joy, and shared wisdom, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

A Meaningful Experience

During their visit, the learners engaged in a variety of activities designed to bring happiness and interaction between generations. They:

Recited a Portuguese poem, embracing the beauty of language and literature.
Sang a song, filling the room with warmth and smiles.
Worked on crafts together, fostering creativity and teamwork.
Played dominoes, enjoying friendly competition and laughter.
Asked residents for life advice, gaining valuable insights from those with years of experience.

The highlight of the visit was the genuine joy shared between the students and the elderly. Seeing the smiles on the residents’ faces and hearing their laughter was a testament to the power of simple, heartfelt moments.
