Aspire International School AS and A Level Options

Year 12 AS and A Level Subject Options

Choosing AS and A Level subjects is an important step for students as they prepare for university, future careers, and life beyond school.

Our Year 12 AS and A Level Options Booklet gives students and families a clear introduction to the wide range of courses available at Aspire International School. It explains what students should consider when selecting their subjects, how the different qualifications are assessed, and the skills and career pathways connected to each course.

Most students study three A Level subjects, although we aim to remain flexible and work with each student to create a programme that reflects their interests, abilities, and future ambitions.

Students are encouraged to select subjects they enjoy and feel passionate about, rather than simply following the choices of friends or the expectations of others. Advice is available from teachers, parents, current Year 13 students, and the school’s careers programme.

Transition materials are also provided to help students prepare for their chosen courses. Following their GCSE examinations, Year 11 students may also have the opportunity to attend Year 12 lessons and experience A Level study before making their final decisions.

Some courses are modular, allowing examinations to be taken at different points during the programme, while others are linear and assessed at the end of the two-year course. The booklet explains these differences and provides guidance on the Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International qualifications offered at Aspire.

Course availability is subject to student numbers and timetable arrangements. We normally require at least three students for a subject to run.

The complete AS and A Level Options Booklet is available to download here. Families requiring additional guidance are welcome to contact the school and arrange a discussion about the most suitable academic pathway.

Explore your options, follow your interests, and begin preparing for the next stage of your education at Aspire International School.
