Ayla was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. She obtained her honours degree in Psychology and completed a PGCE specializing in Foundation Phase and Early Childhood development. Ayla believes that each child is different and therefore enjoys getting to know her students as individuals so that she can help them reach their full potential. The freedom and creativity that AIS allows create the perfect environment to think outside the box and teach in a manner that engages learners of all learning styles. She enjoys bringing practical and fun activities into the classroom to help consolidate concepts.

What do you enjoy most about teaching Years 3 and 4?

Answer:

This is such an exciting stage, as students begin to develop greater independence and confidence in their learning. I enjoy helping them grow academically while also encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a love of discovering new ideas.

How do you support students as they move into more structured learning?

Answer:

I create a supportive and engaging classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves. By balancing structure with creativity, I help them build strong foundations while still enjoying the learning process.

What is most rewarding about being a teacher?

Answer:

Seeing students grow in confidence and take pride in their achievements is incredibly rewarding. Watching them develop new skills and realise their potential makes teaching such a meaningful and fulfilling profession.
